Stage and Internship
The Master’s degree program holds an annual meeting with students to explain the procedures for dissertation internships. Students have the option to choose between internal internships (within the laboratories of the Department of Biosciences or the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences) and external internships (in other University of Milan departments or third-party laboratories/institutions).
Internal Internships and External Internships within University of Milan Departments
Once the internship project is approved by the Plant-int Joint Board of Studies (application form on UGA Moodle), students must submit the following documents to the Biology Teaching Board Secretariat (via Celoria, 26) via email at cl.biol@unimi.it:
- Internship Application Form (Form 01): This form, signed by the Tutor and the internal Supervisor, should be submitted before the start of the internship.
- Internship Completion Form (Form 02): This form, also signed by the Tutor and the internal Supervisor, should be submitted at the end of the internship.
External Internships at UGA or Third-Party Institutions
- For internships in Italy:
Students must contact the UNIMI supervisor and verify that an agreement between UNIMI and the host institution is in place. If not, follow the instructions here and in the COSP section below.
- For internships in France:
Students should contact the UNIMI supervisor, the French student office, and the French supervisor to activate a “convention de stage.” Once this agreement is in place, there is no need for a second agreement between UNIMI and the third-party institution.
- For internships in foreign Countries (other than Italy and France):
The student’s home university is responsible for the agreement and necessary documents. UNIMI students should contact their UNIMI supervisor to verify the agreement’s existence or follow the instructions here and in the COSP section below.
General Requirements for All Students:
- Submit the external internship approval form (available in the forms section) before the internship begins.
- Address the COSP (details provided below).
- Submit the internship completion form (Form 02) to the Course Administration.
- Follow the guidelines for the writing of your dissertation or thesis
An internship (or traineeship) is a training experience encompassing different options:
- Students can participate in curricular internship/work placement
- Those who have completed their study programme not more than 12 months ago can do extracurricular internships/traineeships.
The Cosp manages setup procedures for internships in public and private companies and institutions aimed at enrolled students, graduands and postgraduates.
How to find a stage opportunity
Students can either select one of the available internship positions on the University noticeboard or find an internship by themselves.
In any case they must follow procedures established by the Study and Career Guidance Centre (COSP).
